I'm applying primarily out of being curious if I qualify as either Geek (or a Nerd) or hot.
Lets' see, where to start...
I'm 37, I currently live in St. Paul, MN
I have been a filmmaker since I was 15.
I love dressing up in costumes, and have for as long as I can remember.
I have been a WWII reenactor for 6 years, which is sort of like being a festie, only for the 1940's instead of the Middle-ages.
I was never in band, but I do know how to play a little piano and the harmonica.
I'm obsessed with Indiana Jones, and have been since 1981 and hope to one day make an Indy Fan Film. I saw Star Wars (as in episode 4) in the theater in 1977 -- I was in 4th grade. I have been in line to see the first screening of each film since. James Bond films rock, even if they are bad. Girls from 60's spy movies rule.
I don't play sports, nor particularly like them, though I have begun to appreciate the dramatic qualities of a well played game of american football.
The wall of my Apartment are covered with movie posters, stills and lobby cards from the 1930's, 40's and 50's.
I had to sell my PS2 because I couldn't stop playing it. My favorite hand-held video game as a kid was the Atari Touch Me - yes, that's what it was really called. At home, I kicked ass at Pong.
I'm currently earning a Paralegal Certificate.
I love history, sociology, geology, anthropology, archeaology and astronomy. If I had to do it all again, I think I would have been a Planetary Geologist.
I have owned a Mac since 1991 (not the same one of course).
I don't really know much about programming, but when it is explained to me -- it actually makes sense.
I can carry on entire conversations of movie quotes and understand what is being said.
I like to read, but don't - primarily due to a learning disability.
I thought the Fifth Element was a kick ass movie
My favorite geek films are: Any Indiana Jones movie (but especially Raiders), Star Wars (Empire is the best one), Star Trek: First Contact and Inserection (spelling?), The Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock, Any film by Robert Rodriguez, the Fifth Element, Bladerunner, Planet of the Apes (the original), Alien, Aliens, Accion Mutantes, Evil Dead II and III, Zombie films, MST3K, Most of the films featured by Cinemapocalypse, HK films, some anime, a boy and his dog, um...and the Spice Girls movie -- does that count as a Geek Film?
I'm also an X-Files freak and have been known to watch DS9 on occassion. The Muppets rock. Grover is my favorite.
Recently I co-produced a sci-fi, horror, WWII film called "The Retreat" about GI's who run into some zombie Nazi's, I co-produced the sci-fi western and local hit feature film "Planetfall" and "Go To Hell" (see carschoolfilms.com for more info on both) and I'm currently writing a WWII feature film that is The Guns of Navarone meets Raiders of the Lost Ark meets X-files.
I'm not sure if this falls under geek, but I seem to use a lot of voices, dialects and accents other than my own.
I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000. I think the Patriot act did more damage to American freedom than Osama Bin Laden and Sadam combined.
I have zero tolerance for bureaucratic absurdity and even less tolerance for anyone who adheres to said absurdity.
Live journal is awesome as is Indygear.com.
I'm sure I could write more, but I can't think of anything else right now.
And, the photos:

Nope
The picture of you at 16 was taken the year of my birth.OK, I'm not sure why people don't get this, but NEVER EVER start off an application with a cliche "I'm bored" excuse. It speaks very poorly of your enthusiasm toward geek-life, which should constitute a large part of life-life and thus be imperative.
I think I would call you an indifferent geek. You could be a geek, but you don't really care enough to find out or not, and if you discovered you were, you probably still wouldn't care.
As for being hot? I would go for attractive vs. hot. I really like the black and white photo, though.

Re: Nope
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to respond to this or not. I'm assuming I can. For what it's worth, I am quite proud of my geekiness and wouldn't have it any otherway. My statement was more factual and direct to what I was feeling at the time (bored cause I didn't have anything else to do at the moment) and not reflective of how I feel about geeks or being one. Though, I can understand how that could be perceived differently. I made some changes based on your comments and some others as well. Hopefully will help.July 19 2005, 02:35:46 UTC 6 years ago
yes
well, since i know you IRL, i know how much of a total film geek you are. you should tell us more about that.and i think you are definitely good looking (you have a nice smile)

Your "indygeek" was before I was even concieved, O_o but I'm a WW2 nutter (my major is European History 1929-1954) so I will say yes that your geekiness outweighs the hotness.July 19 2005, 02:47:34 UTC 6 years ago

OLD SKOOL is awesome. We need different kinds in here, and you qualify. Cute enough for my tastes, plus WWII reanctment is ubercool.July 19 2005, 02:47:54 UTC 6 years ago
Yes.
I think that we could use a few more photos of you at current, perhaps in a suit (cause man do I dig suits) so.. not so much on the "hot" but I could see "handsome" but you do get a definite yes on the geekiness.July 22 2005, 22:14:33 UTC 6 years ago
